Toborro’s Courtyard

About

The Toborro’s Courtyard encounter pits players against the Golden Fury, a massive battle droid affectionally called the golden bunny for its rabbit like ears (or golden chicken, if you’re feeling hungry).

This single-boss operation is located on Makeb in the Hutt Strongholds area at the northernmost tip of the map. Republic players will have the easiest time reaching the entrance, as it is directly south of a taxi point. Imperial players will have a more roundabout journey from a southern taxi point. Something to note is that Imperial players must have played the first few quests in the Hutt Cartel questline to unlock Gravity Hook Seven taxi points.

In story mode, Toborro’s Courtyard is a perfect introduction to mechanics, having only three major tasks to note, and the importance of positioning. In veteran mode, the encounter gets more difficult, as it becomes a DPS race as groups try to beat the Fury’s enrage timer in between a laser that fires quicker and quicker.

Group Composition

Recommended: Since the damage in 8 person story mode is relatively minor, we recommend running a single tank, two healers and the rest DPS. It’s particularly to have at least two ranged DPS due to add spawns in the back, as ranged DPS allows for quicker target swapping if they set up in safe locations to reach both adds and the boss.

I’m Crazy, So Why Not? Run one tank, one healer and all ranged DPS, spread out along both sides.

Recommended: Like in story mode 8 person, damage is minimal so a single tank is perfectly viable, though you’ll want to assign 3-4 DPS and one healer to deal with adds in the rear. A split between melee and ranged DPS is preferred here.

I’m Crazy, So Why Not? Run one tank, two healers (one dedicated to the group, one to the tank and melee) and the rest DPS.

Recommended: A standard 2 tank (one for boss, one for adds at rear), 4 DPS and 2 healer setup is preferred. The healer that manages the tank holding the boss should have strong single-target skills.

I’m Crazy, So Why Not? Run one tank, one DWT with strong defensives and two healers. Ensure adds in back are killed quickly, as well as interrupted, or a one-tank strategy will not work.

Recommended: Run two tanks and three healers.

I’m Crazy, So Why Not? Run two tanks and two healers for the extra DPS; outside of the occasional hit from an AoE, DPS should be taking no damage and only the tanks will need steady healing. Burn damage is negligible. An alternative is one tank and a DWT holding adds in the back though this is dangerous due to their damage output in veteran mode.

Unique Rewards

Toborro’s Courtyard and the Golden Fury has 4 achievements related to completing the encounter: 8 and 16 story, and 8 and 16 veteran. You can find the achievement under Operations > Epic Enemies.

A weekly quest called [WEEKLY] Toborro’s Courtyard is available at any operations terminal. This operation is also accessible for groups of 8 in story mode through group finder.

Tactics

Setup

Prior to starting the encounter, groups will want to survey the area. You’ll see numerous yellow Isotope-5 containers scattered around the arena. The job of anyone with a knockback or pull is to get those in position near the first set of stairs closest to the boss (careful not to pull the boss by getting too near, or dealing too much damage to the containers such that they break).

Breaking the container helps reduce the tank’s damage taken and, given the limited time available between Massive Laser attacks, a tank generally doesn’t have time to kill one from full health, or chase one down. Group them up, DPS them to about 10% health, and otherwise be very careful when standing near them or tab targeting.

Mechanic 1: Isotope Buff

Breaking an Isotope-5 container grants the player who scored the last hit a 70 second buff that reduces incoming damage by 50% and protects against Isotope-5 attacks from the boss. Containers do respawn though not at a rapid rate, so being careful not to kill them needlessly is key.

  • All modes: We generally advise that only the tank breaks Isotope containers as they are limited and take time to gather up. Tanks can plan to break one container before pulling the boss, and then after every other Massive Laser attack. Generally the protection will fall off just before the next Massive Laser and incoming damage will spike, so save defensives for that period. Break a container while the boss is firing its Massive Laser.

Mechanic 2: Massive Laser

Starting at 95% health and occuring up to every 45 seconds, the Golden Fury will start to fire a massive laser toward the fountain which has a focus at the top. You’ll easily be able to tell when this occurs because the boss will turn around, face the entrance, turn red, become invulnerable, and sirens will sound. Generally, watching for the boss to turn away from the tank is the most reliable warning of this attack, as the sound cues have a tendency to occasionally sound late or not at all.

When the boss turns, everyone must go up the stairs and get behind the double yellow line at either raised platform. Standing on any objects, including the concrete blocks near the boss, that cross this yellow line will result in the player taking damage.

  • Story mode: Massive Lasers will fire across 2 seconds and instantly kill anyone caught in the blast. There is a chance to survive it if you are just clipped by it, but the reaction time of most is slow enough that the attack’s rapid tick rate will wipe out someone who is too slow to reach safety.
  • Veteran mode: In veteran mode, the time between the boss charging up (turning toward entrance) and firing the laser gets shorter and shorter. You’ll have more time to get to safety at the first laser, than you will in later lasers. This requires paying attention and standing in locations that allow you to get up the stairs quickly.

Mechanic 3: Add Spawn

After every Massive Lasers attack, adds called Palace Security Droids will spawn between the boss and the fountain. The off-tank and a couple assigned DPS will want to down them before returning to the boss.

  • Story mode: In story mode, these tend to do enough damage that one DPS should not hold them (if single-tanking) without a defensive. Additionally, it is best policy to interrupt their Isotope-5 Laser channel to reduce damage taken.
  • Veteran mode: Generally only a tank should hold the adds. Interrupts should be completed without fail.

Mechanic 4: Satellite Strike

Satellite Strike applies a medium sized purple circle around a random player that is not the tank holding the boss, and who is 10 to 50 meters away. Players should use basic damage reduction skills and defensives and, most importantly, mover away from the group so that no other players are caught in the AoE. The attack will go on for 7 seconds and fire an orbital attack on the player every second. At full health, this attack should not kill any player. Be sure to otherwise not line of sight healers.

Burn Phase (20% and below)

When the boss reaches 20%, burn will start. The Golden Fury will stop using Massive Lasers and will repeatedly cast Radiation Leak, which is a raid-wide AoE that ticks every 3 seconds for very minor force/tech damage. Use any remaining raid buffs and burn the boss to zero in order to defeat it.

Veteran Mode Changes

  • Massive Lasers fires quicker: The delay between the boss starting its Massive Lasers attack and actually firing gets shorter and shorter each time it fires.
  • Adds hit harder: The damage of adds is scaled in veteran mode. The easiest way to mitigate this is to interrupt their Isotope-5 Laser channel.
  • The enrage timer is much less forgiving: The Golden Fury enrages at 9 minutes, same as in story mode, but the extra amount of health for both the boss, the adds, and the additional downtime caused by a faster Massive Lasers attack can push groups to their limit. This typically isn’t too much of a hassle in 6.0 with veteran’s edge, but groups unfamiliar with the mechanics or their classes will struggle.

Role Tips

What you should know if you’re playing a Tank, DPS or Healer in this fight.

  • Face the boss away at all times. Generally you can angle yourself so you’re close to a stairwell and allow melee DPS open access to the other stairwell. The boss has a conal and an AoE attack that will otherwise affect anyone who stands with you. Facing the boss away from entrance also allows for easy monitoring of the Massive Laser mechanic – if it turns away from you, you know it’s time to move up the stairs.
  • Kill an Isotope-5 Container before pulling and after during every other Laser attack. The debuff you gain by killing one grants you a 50% damage reduction. This is hugely beneficial to dealing with the boss’s Isotope-5 attacks.
  • If tanking the adds, interrupt their channels. This helps mitigate damage though as Force/Tech damage, things like saber reflect, shroud/resilience and energy shield will all help.
  • If no containers are left, use force/tech defensives whenever the boss starts casting Isotope-5 Release.
  • Never stand with the tank. The boss has frontal conals and AoEs that target the tank and will likely wipe out DPS quickly if they have no form of damage reduction active.
  • If in melee range, you’re unlikely to be targeted by Satellite Strike (the purple circle).
  • If out of melee range, ensure you never line of sight healers during Satellite Strike. You can use Force Barrier, absorb shields, general defensives and more to help reduce the damage you take across this 7 second attack.
  • Watch your tab and auto target. The Isotope-5 containers are central to a tank’s ability to survive in this fight, and killing them needlessly may cause a wipe. The containers respawn but they do so in their original locations, which will put them out of range. During tight DPS checks (particularly in veteran mode), this makes gathering them up mid-fight difficult.
  • If you are helping kill adds, interrupt their channel. Additionally if you do not have a tank with you, try and focus on one and let your fellow DPS focus on the other – this will spread out the damage they deal.
  • Leave the Isotope-5 containers alone during the fight. They are for tanks only; neither melee DPS nor ranged DPS need to kill them or need to utilize the buff. In rare cases, a DWT can use a buff from a container if they need to tank the adds in the back in veteran mode ONLY.
  • Ensure one healer is on the main tank full time. The tank will experience several instances of spike damage and a solid single-target healer (or any healer in story mode) will help keep them alive.
  • After a Massive Lasers attack, ensure a healer is ready to assist the DPS and off-tank killing adds in the back of the room. They are likely to take a fair amount of damage before the adds die.
  • Keeping everyone near full health will ensure no one standing at range dies from Satellite Strike.
  • Healers can also receive Satellite Strike; just like DPS, you should take it out of the group though still within range of healing your teammates.
  • Healers can generally stay up the stairs at all times. As you don’t need to worry about movement as a result, you can help with call outs and let the group know whenever the boss turns around for its Massive Lasers attack.

Damage Profile

  • Skill Name: Massive Lasers
  • Damage Type: Force Tech > Typeless
  • Frequency: Occurs up to every 45 seconds. The actual attack lasts 2 seconds and ticks every 0.2 seconds.
  • Damage Spread: Anyone caught in the AoE will die; the safe zone is due to positioning on platforms to either side of the boss.
  • How to Defend: Simply stand behind the double yellow line during this attack.

  • Skill Name: Satellite Strike
  • Damage Type: Force/Tech > Energy
  • Frequency: Occurs up to every 12 seconds, and applies damage once a second for 7 seconds. Players can only be targeted by this attack up to once every 60 seconds.
  • Damage Spread: The affected player will be surrounded by a medium sized purple circle and anyone inside that purple circle will also take damage.
  • How to Defend: Use low-grade defensives, absorb shields, off heals and so on. Otherwise simply take the attack out of the group, try not to clip any Isotope containers, and ensure you’re in range of a healer at all times.

  • Skill Name: Isotope Release
  • Damage Type: Force/Tech > Energy
  • Frequency: Occurs up to every 30 seconds and indicated by a 3 second cast.
  • Damage Spread: This is the boss’s primary attack for tanks, though anyone caught inside the blue AoE circle will also take damage.
  • How to Defend: Don’t stand with the tank if you are a DPS or healer. Else, the Isotope-5 damage reduction debuff will help mitigate most damage (50% damage taken reduction). Else, absorb shields, force/tech defensives and general damage reduction skills will aid in defending this attack.

  • Skill Name: Rapid Blast
  • Damage Type: Force/Tech > Elemental if under the Isotope Shield debuff, Force/Tech > Energy if not under the debuff and outside of melee range, else Force/Tech > Kinetic if in melee range and not under the debuff.
  • Frequency: Up to every 6 seconds
  • Damage Spread: Frontal conal
  • How to Defend: This is the Golden Fury’s basic attack. As a conal, the tank is typically the only one who receives the attack. If the boss isn’t controlled however, it can hit players up to 45 meters away.
