In SWTOR, attributes, commonly called stats, are broken into three major groups: primary, secondary and tertiary. These are numerical points that influence how much health you have, how much damage or healing you do, whether you can hit an enemy, and how much damage you can defend against.
You can see your current stats by pressing “C” in game to bring up your character window. The left-hand column will have the flat values of each stat listed.
Primary Stats #
- Endurance: Affects player health and determines the amount of damage a player can receive during combat, without being healed, before dying.
- Mastery: Mastery increases the effectiveness of your attacks and heals as well as boosts your critical chance.
Secondary Stats #
- Power: Power increases the effectiveness of your attacks and heals.
- Defense: Increases the chance that you avoid an attack, though this depends on attack type and some damage cannot be defended.
Tertiary Stats #
- Critical: A critical attack is an attack that deals increased damage. The critical attribute determines the chance a player has to deal a critical attack and the amount over the base damage that attack deals.
- Alacrity: Determines how quickly a player can execute skills and how quickly those skills come off cooldown.
- Accuracy: Accuracy increases the chance that your attacks will hit an enemy. This is particularly relevant for any enemies that have a chance to defend an attack, such as strong, elite, champion and boss enemies. Therefore, running greater than 100% accuracy in PVE content is standard in order to decrease the change they defend against an attack.
- Shield: Determines the chance that a player wearing a shield generator will “shield” – or partially reduce the damage of – an attack. This is affected by damage type and also takes the absorb stat into account for the amount of damage reduced.
- Absorb: Determines the percentage of damage received that is absorbed (or negated) by a shielded attack. Requires an attack to be shielded to be relevant.
Other Stats #
- Social: Increases the chance you win group conversation choice rolls. Social levels are per-character and accumulate as you do content with other players. Gaining social levels, up to 10, unlocks the ability to buy unique items from social vendors across the universe.
- Valor: A stat detailing the PVP participation of that character.
- Presence: Increases the effectiveness of your companion.
