What is the power stat?

About Power #

Power, a secondary stat, is primarily relevant to healing and DPS classes. In most cases, healers and DPS will have a larger pool of Power than tank classes. Power is found on lethal mods, on non-tank enhancements, on augments, on dps relics, and on some stims and relic procs.

Power increases the effectiveness of your attacks and heals. Per point, it increases your bonus damage by 0.23 and bonus heal by 0.17.

Power in PVE #

Power in Capped and Uncapped Content #

As of game update 6.0, content is divided into capped level 70 and uncapped level 75 content. Because of the way that bolster and level sync works in SWTOR, your Power stat will be different in level 70 than it is in level 75 content.

The number your Power stat is set to is determined by the role/discipline you are when you enter a phase.

If you change your discipline inside, your stats adjust in most cases – but it’s important to check. If you notice that you move from DPS to Tank without a change in your Power stat, you should exit the phase, respec, and then re-enter. Changing from a DPS to DPS or Healer to DPS and the like does not, in most cases, require players to exit.

Capped Content #

In story mode PVE content, Power is fixed at 3487 for DPS and Healers. For tanks, Power is fixed at 2301. This means that regardless of the gear you have on, if you enter a story mode level 70 operation instance, your power is determined by your role, not by your gear.

If you are only gearing for capped PVE content, you can ignore Power as the stat is fixed; instead, focus on maximizing your tertiary stats.

Uncapped Content #

If you’re building for uncapped level 75 content, you’ll want to ensure that you utilize gear pieces (armorings, mods, enhancements) with the largest stat pool and that don’t sacrifice power for tertiary stats.

Additionally, DPS and healers can swap out the relics they use in capped content (typically Devastating Vengeance and Primeval Fatesealer) for power and mastery relics like Focused Retribution, Serendipitous Assault or Boundless Ages.

Tanks can also take advantage of this in uncapped content by building a minor amount of Power into their stats with Lethal Mods instead of Warding Mods given that Defense has diminishing returns. This is only recommended for story and veteran mode content. Use full mitigation builds if running master mode content.

Boosting Power #

You can boost your power stat by utilizing gear, relics and consumables that increase this stat. Most of these are temporary or, in the case of capped content, irrelevant.

  • Stims: Versatile stims boost your Power and Mastery stats. Note that you will want to avoid these stims in capped content and utilize Proficient stims instead.
  • Adrenals: Attack adrenals boost your power for a short period of time. Again, avoid these in capped content and use Critical adrenals instead.
  • Relics: Serendipitous Assault and Boundless Ages are relics that boost your Power on a random proc or on activation, respectively. In capped content, you will want to sub these out for Critical (Devastating Vengeance) and Alacrity (Primeval Fatesealer) relics.
